Rebecca's Story
I joined S&P in January 2020 after getting very bored, fed up and frustrated training in other gyms.  S&P came recommended by a friend, so I thought I'd give it a go and try the '£7 for 7 days' trial.

After a short phone call with Al, I was welcomed in by him at my first session and it was great!  The coaching was really attentive, and Al took the time to adjust my technique and form without making me feel self concious.

I learned so much from my first few sessions and knew instantly I wanted to continue training at S&P. All the sessions are coach-led, so there's never any wondering what you are going to be doing.

The training was intense but well thought-out and structured, which was in sharp contrast to how I had been training at other gyms- even with their personal trainers! 

It was how I had always wanted to train, things just clicked straight away and I knew S&P was the gym for me.

Nearly 4 years later and I'm still here! I'm made some amazing friends and I can't ever imagine training anywhere else.

It's clear Al cares about his members and their progress and this reverberates through the entire gym, making it a very warm, friendly, welcoming place.  My only regret is I didn't know about S&P sooner!

Wayne's Story
Back in 2018, I had lost motivation for training, and was unhappy with my current weight and appearance. I was keen to get myself back in shape and fit again, to rebuild my confidence and get me back into regular football training again.

I joined S&P and quickly realised how much I had let myself slip! But not once was I made to feel inadequate or like I shouldn't be there. The support from the coaches and other members was fantastic, and I was made to feel welcome and part of the community at S&P in no time.

Fast forward 4 years and I'm still here.  I'm the leanest and strongest I've ever been, packed on muscle and reduced my bodyfat massively. My performance on the football pitch has skyrocketed and I feel fantastic day in day out.

The set up at S&P is something else. Knowledge coaches who care, combined with a great bunch of members of all shapes & sizes who are all there to get better. I can't recommend S&P enough.

Before joining S&P, I struggled with my weight and fitness. For many years I had been an active member of a gym, it had always been part of my lifestyle, so I found it relatively easy to stay fit and healthy.

However, I met my husband 5 years ago and “contentment” certainly kicked in, over indulging a lot with food and alcohol!  On top of that, over the last couple of years, due to health reasons, I hadn’t been able to fully commit to a gym.

The reason I joined S&P was because I didn’t recognise myself anymore. Every time I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, I wondered who was staring back at me. I certainly lost all of my body confidence and it was really starting to affect me.

I spotted an advert for S&P on facebook and luckily I persuaded my husband to join with me! I have always been a member of a gym but starting somewhere new was extremely daunting. Even though it was really scary walking into my first session, I found all the coaches and members to be really friendly and supportive. I felt so much better afterwards. I’m not going to lie, it was tough, but it was so rewarding and the feeling of achievement is just amazing.

These days, I like what I see staring back at me in the mirror now!!! I’m starting to feel like my old self again.

If someone was thinking of becoming a member I would say just do it. S&P is not like your average gym, the coaches here help and support you all the way. It really has changed my life.

Once you’ve walked through those doors, you won’t look back. I just wish I’d joined sooner!

I had always tried to stay fit and active, but always found training on my own difficult and very stop/start.  I lacked consistency, and would do great for a few weeks and then drop off, as something would undoubtedly get in the way. I then applied to join the army as a career step and knew I needed to get in shape fast and take my training seriously.

I applied to S&P as had heard great things and needed some help to shortcut the process- and what a decision it was! I had an initial phone call with Al, who asked me about my goals, training background and current fitness level. He then got me in for my first session and I was hooked. 

I found it tough initially, but the support from the coaches was outstanding, with them adapting the sessions to meet my current fitness level, and then progressing them week to week as I improved.

Al helped me map out a plan, and within a few months my bodyfat had plummeted, and my strength increased dramatically.  I was smashing all of the fitness pre-tests we ran through before my actual army fitness test!

I ended up passing all of the entry tests first time with flying colours; something I could only have imagined doing barely a year beforehand.

I am so grateful for the help & guidance that S&P provided and would highly recommend anyone to join if they are looking to transform their health, fitness and strength. The community there is outstanding, and the most welcoming I have ever experienced.

Before joining S&P, I didn't dedicate much time thinking about my fitness or food. Despite being vegan, I didn't take my diet very seriously. I knew that I needed to get fit before a skiing holiday so took the plunge and messaged S&P after they were recommended to me.

I joined with the intention to get a bit fitter to ski... 2 years later and i'm still here!  Not only did I achieve that goal, but also so much more; I'm fitter, stronger (physically and mentally), more confident and happier.

I've truly found my 'gym family'; a great group of like minded men and women who encourage and support each other. I've been a member in so many gyms but S&P has a unique ethos and amazing coaching. I'd have all my friends join if I could!

When I think of S&P, I see my safe space where I can push myself, learn about myself and know that i'll be supported by everyone there without being judged.

There are many reasons why someone may walk through the doors of S&P; mine was I was fed up and frustrated from putting in the work and not seeing any progress, no matter what I tried.

I saw an ad for S&P and after a day of feeling not too good about myself, got in touch with them. I spoke with Alastair on Christmas Eve, and we arranged a start date for just after New Year.

What a decision it was! The workouts were tough, but I was supported and pushed by the coaches, with adaptations made for my level.

They educated me on proper nutrition to fuel my body, not starve myself as I had been doing up until this point. They helped me set goals and then held me accountable to ensure I was on track.

I was welcomed into a community that was so welcoming and inclusive- I have never experienced anything like it before.
